History: Kern had a very sheltered childhood and knew very little of the outside world. What she did know was what she learned in her day classes from the private school. She had a strict routine and way of life that was not allowed to be broken. She was never allowed to have friends; any that she made her family would violently chase away. For this reason she found her only consistent friend to be her music as it was the only thing her parents couldn’t chase away, or so she thought. It started out as the usual classical and religious music that was given to her until she figured out how to make her own music. Then one day she found out there were other genres of music and was instantly enthralled. She wanted to learn about every type of music she could get her claws on. The only catch was her parents; she eventually found ways to get music, any music. She did have a favorite; electric dance music; and instantly wanted to make some herself. Unfortunately, there was not really a way for her to do so since she was not allowed a computer let alone turntables. She was not able to learn how to mix until she finally up and left at the age of 12, where the one friend that had not been chased off had taken her in and raised her like a daughter; teaching her everything she now knows today.
At the age of 16 she surgically had a microphone implanted into her heart so that she could constantly have head phones plugged in. It was the only musical inspiration she had and she centers every song she makes around it. She keeps her customized headphones plugged into her chest-jack at all times. Her headphones are modified pioneer DJ headphones and have LED screens on both ear pieces that have a continuous display of an EKG readout that matches her BPM. The left ear piece has the monitor and the right piece has a number read out and a heart symbol that flashes every time her heart beats. When the headphones are not plugged into her chest-jack (which is only when she is in water or hooked up to larger speakers for a show), they are flat-lining. She starts off each show with the main speakers plugged into her chest-jack and gradually plays into her music/mixes until the music fully takes over, at which time she plugs her headphones back into her chest-jack. Even though it is plugged in, she will not use those headphones during the show, she uses another pair of DJ headphones for the show, but keeps her modified ones plugged in and resting on her neck the whole time.
To this day she has no friends and will not trust a soul except her friend that took her in; and her many fish.
Personality: When first meeting her she is very stand-offish and will generally snub you if approached. If she is thrown into a room with a lot of people, she will stick to herself and not say a word to anyone or acknowledge their existence. In fact she is generally a very timid person when not behind her turntables. When someone gets to know her, however, she can be quite the character. She loves to goof off, laugh, and do stupid stuff. Once out of her shell, a smile will never leave her face and a laugh is never far behind.
About: Kern likes to do all sorts of things in her spare time, one of her favorites being fish. She keeps many fish tanks of all different sizes, but her favorites have to be her betta tanks. Betta fish are among her favorite fish that she has, and she frequently trains them and breeds them. She has quite a few different color and tail strains going at the moment. Gaming is another way she likes to pass time, her favorite game is Alan Wake. When she gets frustrated, she will pull an all-nighter and play Alan Wake beginning to end nonstop.
Kern suffers from a form of extreme migraine called hemiplegic migraine and had to be put on several anti-seizure medications in order to control them; however this does not get rid of them. What sets hemiplegic migraines apart from normal migraines is that Kern can suffer temporary paralysis and/or loss of consciousness during or before a migraine. The migraines no longer plague her all day every day like they used to. However, when they do strike, they are often debilitating, and she has to stay in a dark quiet room for days until the migraine passes. She has on occasion passed out mid-show due to this condition, possibly triggered by the loud nature of her music.
